House Measurement Part 2a - Bad HDB

Plans of our Master Toilet

I don't understand why HDB can't do a simple decent layout. Its not an issue with a lack of space. There is sufficient space to do a proper efficient layout. Even if we want to fix HDB mistakes now, we are still governed by the predetermined and fixed location of the floor trap, sewage stack (vertical pipe) and cored location of the WC. Bad HDB Bad.

I've spent some time over the weekend working out several options and feel this works for us.

  1. Maybe its a laundry area? i remember my grandma used to do her laundry and washing ( they didnt use washers then ) by hand in the bathrooms, and there would be this empty space for that.

    1. Hi Cenarret, i guess you maybe right for the very early HDB flats but our toilet is on the 2nd level. Not a good idea to do laundry there and bring in to the lower level to dry. Furthermore, the flat was constructed in the late 80's there were washing machines then. You may have brought up a point that there they probably just created space for the occupants to figure out. But I still think for Public Housing they need to prescribe space usage. Just my view.
